The Ultimate Guide to facelift in Cancun

Stop the effects of aging by getting a facelift in Cancun with Medical Departures. Our faces tell a story and stresses and lifestyle factors can all be etched into our skin, contributing to deepening lines, drooping mouths and sagging jawlines. Genetics also play a part - some people just seem to age more gracefully than others – but it can be disheartening to see a reflection in the mirror that doesn’t resemble how you feel inside.

A facelift is not necessarily for everyone – and certainly the younger you are there are other options that may be more suitable for your age. The best candidates tend to be between 40 and 60, whose faces and necks have begun to sag, but who still have some elasticity in their skin, but they can be done successfully on older people in their 70’s and beyond.

Why should I get a Facelift in Cancun?

One of the major reasons you may want to consider Cancun for a facelift is the price. It isn’t unusual to save as much as two-thirds on the price it would cost at home.

Medical tourism throughout Mexico is increasing as more people not just from the United States and Canada, but from across the world, are looking for good quality healthcare that they can afford. Investment is key to successful medical tourism and many of the popular facilities have invested heavily to offer patients exceptional quality as well as expertise they can rely on. If they didn’t patients would soon stop coming.

Internationally accredited hospitals and surgeons who have trained overseas are some of the positives in traveling to Cancun for surgery. You're also likely to find surgeons are mebers of international professional organizations, such as the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Cancun is also draw because it is world-famous as a holiday resort and people are familiar with its location, amenities and services. For the ultimate in relaxation in a tropical setting it certainly can’t be beaten.

You should spend a little time when considering surgery abroad, especially a facelift, in doing your own research. Check out other patient testimonials and find out as much as you can about your surgeon – How many facelifts have they performed? What are their qualifications and experience? What professional organizations are they a member of? No medical procedure can ever be guaranteed completely, but making sure all the boxes are ticked in terms of this basic information goes a long way in giving you peace of mind, which is why Medical Departures confirms these in our background checks, and why it is available for free on our listings.

What is the procedure for a facelift?

The Surgery can last for between 1 hour and 8, depending on how extensive it is – and a mini-lift can be completed in under 2 hours.

Facelifts are as individual as people and there is no one way of doing it. These days cosmetic surgeons tailor procedures depending on what each patient needs. Common facelift procedures may include an endoscopic brow lift and eye bag removal with procedures such as chin augmentation or lip enhancement done at the same time.

What is the recovery time following a facelift?

After surgery your face will feel swollen and bruised and this tends to move downwards to the neck as it starts to subside. Your face may feel tight and there may be some numbness. You should probably keep your head elevated for the first few days after surgery, sleeping in an upright position bolstered by pillows. If you have drainage tubes these will be removed after a couple of days.

You will need to take things slowly, avoiding bending and lifting as well as saunas for at least 2 weeks. Many people return to work after a couple of weeks. Scarring should be easily disguised and any residual bruising should be able to be camouflaged with make-up.

It will be at least 6 weeks before you can resume vigorous activities and 6 months’ or so before you feel completely healed and your face has settled.
