If you want to improve the texture of your skin, a chemical peel in Mexico City can enhance your appearance while you get the chance to enjoy a relaxing getaway.
Chemical peels are among the most popular cosmetic procedures and can effectively treat skin discoloration, scars, and wrinkles. These procedures are most commonly used on the face.
Treatment involves the application of a chemical solution to desired areas, to remove the top layers of the skin. Once the skin begins to grow back, it will be smoother and younger-looking. Prospective patients should be aware that this treatment cannot remove broken capillaries, treat deep facial wrinkles, remove deep scars, change the size of pores, or tighten loose or sagging skin.
Among the most common reasons for traveling south of the border is the ability to save money. As prices continue to rise in the US and Canada, medical procedures throughout Mexico are much less expensive, with savings of around 70% to be made.
Since the recovery time for a chemical peel is quite short, you will also have ample time to explore the many sights and attractions in Mexico City, including historical sites and museums. Mexico City is also just a short flight from the U.S. and Canada, making it a convenient option.
Patients will also find that Mexico has an excellent healthcare system, with facilities adhering to international standards and many physicians receiving their training in the United States. Even so, it’s still a good idea to conduct ample research and make sure you choose a well-established clinic and practitioner with a good reputation.
Medical Departures offers a list of facilities and physicians that have undergone comprehensive background checks. These include confirmation of professional memberships, such as the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and qualifications. Additionally, we perform civil and criminal checks, as well as personally visiting facilities. We also interview patients and collect authenticated reviews from patient visits.
Over time, one’s skin can become damaged due to the aging process and exposure to the environment and sun. This can leave the skin appearing wrinkled, spotted, scarred, and uneven. A chemical peel can help to improve the appearance of your skin by treating these problem areas in the least invasive manner. Chemical peels may be used on the face, as well as the neck and hands.
In planning your procedure, you should be aware that a chemical peel can be performed at different levels, ranging from light to deep—with the level of the procedure based on the results you wish to achieve. A deeper chemical peel can be used to reveal more significant results, although it will also require a lengthier recovery and should only be undertaken under surgical conditions.
Chemical peels are usually performed in an outpatient facility, allowing you to return to the comfort of your hotel room the same day. The practitioner will first clean the targeted area. In order to protect surrounding areas, tape, gauze, ointment or goggles may be used. While it is usually not necessary for anesthesia to be used in this procedure, a painkiller or sedative may be used for medium chemical peels. A local anesthetic may be used for deep chemical peels.
Next, the physician will apply the chemical solution to the targeted area. It is common to experience a stinging sensation. A neutralizing solution will be applied after a few minutes. Cool compresses will be used to limit any discomfort you may feel, although it is possible to feel some burning and stinging for around 30 minutes after this treatment.
A chemical peel can usually be performed in an hour or less. You may notice that your skin feels slightly irritated, red, or dry following this procedure. Most patients begin to notice new skin developing within about one week. If you experience any discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers may be used. Deeper chemical peels may require longer recovery times and cause increased swelling and redness.
The average cost of a chemical peel in Mexico City is about $100 (EURO €88, AUD $135, GBP £70) compared to $650 in the United States (EURO €580, AUD $900, GBP £445).
