The Ultimate Guide to Nose Job in Mexico

Introduction

Last fact-checked: 3 December 2020

Bothered by the shape or size of your nose but can’t afford surgery? Getting a nose job in Mexico can save you over 60%, and the country is also the perfect place to relax and recuperate while you wait for the swelling and bruising to subside.

Discover how you can do it without putting your health—or face!—at risk by booking your treatment through Medical Departures.

Is a Nose Job for Me? What Should I Consider?

There are many reasons why you may want to have nose surgery (also known as rhinoplasty). For example, you may:

-Have a misshapen nose after trauma (which may also cause breathing difficulties)

-Want to make your nose smaller to complement your other facial features

-Seek a longer, thinner nose to replicate a more “Western” look

-Correct bumps or straighten the nose

As your nose is the most prominent feature on your face, feeling unhappy about it may have a detrimental effect on your self-esteem, especially if you have had those feelings for a long time.

While deciding on any surgery is a major decision, nose surgery should be given careful consideration as the results are not something that can be hidden away. A nose job not only changes your nose but it is also likely to alter your face. You must be prepared for the change in the way you look, which may take some getting used to, not just for you but to your family and friends as well.

Why Should I Consider a Nose Job in Mexico?

For many people in English-speaking countries, the cost of cosmetic surgery (your nose job would probably be classed as elective if you don’t have an associated medical condition) will be high as it won’t be covered by health insurance or public healthcare. In Mexico, the costs are considerably lower, with our clients often saving thousands.

For Americans and Canadians in particular, Mexico is practically on their doorstep—either a short-haul flight away and for some, within driving distance. For some people who don’t want the hassle or expense of traveling across continents, this is a real plus point.

Nose surgery is usually carried out by a specialist surgeon, called an otolaryngologist. In Mexico, general surgeons who specialize in a subspecialty, such as otolaryngology, are required to undergo additional training, as well as recertification every five years. If you are considering a nose job in Mexico, make sure you find a specialist licensed to practice otolaryngology. Mexico has plenty of excellent surgeons, many of whom are also American-trained and board-certified, so you can be doubly confident of good standards.

Providing you do some research, and know what you are looking for, you can find great-quality facilities that offer reliable services with trustworthy medics. While no surgery can ever be guaranteed to be successful, you are giving yourself a good start if you can get the basics right.

Medical Departures helps you do exactly this. We carry out background checks on qualifications and professional memberships, as well as visiting clinics/hospitals. Our findings are published on our website, with authenticated patient reviews, all freely available to help you reach a decision.

What Does Rhinoplasty Procedure Entail?

No two nose jobs are the same. Your procedure will be tailored to your condition and desires. The treatment may be carried out under general or local anesthetic. Your surgeon will be able to give you a better account of the procedure should you wish to be filled in on all the details.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

This depends on what type of surgery you and your specialist have selected. The average time for surgery is around two hours. It may take an hour or much longer if your surgery is complicated, requiring extensive reconstruction.

What About the Recovery After a Nose Job?

Immediately after surgery, your nose will be filled with gauze, and you will be bandaged. You may have a splint to keep the nose as straight as possible until your bones have set. You will experience discomfort for a few days, especially once the swelling and bruising develop, but pain medication and cold presses will help with the symptoms.

The surgical dressings will be removed between four and seven days and splints and bandages between seven and ten days. Some people feel able to return to work after two weeks, but it may take a little longer before you feel up to your normal routine. Your doctor will ask you to take things slowly, and while light exercise is permitted after three weeks, you should avoid strenuous exercise for at least six weeks.

How Much Can I Save on the Price of a Nose Job in Mexico Compared with the United States or Canada?

Nose jobs in Mexico usually cost less than 50% of what surgeons charge in the United States, at around $3,000, rather than $8,000. [Please note: These are approximate prices based on global averages at the time of writing.] To see updated prices, as well as clinic photos, surgeon profiles, patient reviews and other information, take a look at these three leading clinics in Mexico that provide nose jobs for international patients:

I got the 360 Lipo (opted out for the tummy tuck) - I was EXTREMELY impressed with their organisation, i arrived and was transported to the apartment i arranged, they would pick me up and drop me off each time i needed to visit (communicated over WhatsApp). When i arrived it was a rush to get payment but they were patient when a few of my cards didnt work (i suggest you bring multiple credit cards). There was a lack of communication on what to expect during and AFTER surgery, black and enlarged scrotum had me worried and wasnt warned about it and i had to google what i needed to do after surgery for recovery, they didnt sit me down and walk me through the process, just put me on a bed and was done, they did regularily check me when in the bed after surgery and was very professional, but most of the staff there had to use translators on their phone to communicate. I felt it was worth the money to get the surgery done and was a suitable place for the budget. Suggest you do NOT do this alone, took me 7 days recovery in Turkey before being able to travel back to AU, had a final checkup day before leaving.
