There are two types of forehead lift:
A traditional forehead lift technique is performed under a general anesthetic and involves making one long cut from the tip of the ears and up through the hairline to avoid a visible scar, if possible. The skin is then lifted to smooth the appearance of wrinkles and lines, excess skin is removed and the eyebrows are repositioned. The incision is then sealed with sutures, with the whole process taking up to two hours complete.
The endoscopic forehead lift is also performed under a general anaesthetic and involves a series of small incisions in the scalp. A small camera is then inserted to allow the surgeon to assess what needs to be done. The treatment itself entails the use of small anchors to lift and secure the tissue under the skin, which gives a more natural result as there is no excess skin to remove. Finally, as with the tradition forehead lift technique, the incisions are closed with sutures.
The the upper part of your face will be very tender after the procedure, with bruising and swelling being in evidence. Stitches are usually removed a week after surgery, by which time the bruising should be subsiding.
You can shower or bathe the day after your treatment, although you should try to ensure that you keep the wound dry and only use a hairdryer on a cool setting. You can resume light activities within a couple of days, but you should avoid lifting or bending, and it can take up to 3 weeks before you can undertake regular activities and as much as 6 weeks before doing any vigorous exercise.
You should see the final results of your surgery within one to two months.
