What Actually Are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are used according to the desired results and can be superficial or deep. The deeper peels give longer-lasting results and are used for deeper lines and wrinkles, while the more superficial ones that don’t go very deep are used more for skin discoloration and blotches rather than lines and wrinkles. Among the acids used for the peels are alpha hydroxyl acid (or beta salicylic acid), trichloroacetic acid and phenol.

Chemical peels of different strengths and types are available and the one you need depends on the condition of your skin. So, before deciding on a peel, you need to consult a skin specialist or esthetician who is experienced in this treatment.

Why Consider a Chemical Peel in the Philippines?

beach resort or any other tourist spot in the Philippines, then it is best to have the treatment done towards the end of your holiday as you will need to keep out of the sun and water after the treatment for some time.

Overall, the Philippines is great for enjoying the laid-back beach atmosphere, having fun with some watersport action and also checking out various cultural tourist attractions. Top business and tourist destinations in the Philippines include Mania, Luzon City, Quezon City and Cebu City; in each of these areas, you can enjoy incredible food, stay at superb hotels at reasonable rates and explore vibrant nightlife scenes. From Australia, most airlines fly to the major tourist destinations in the Philippines.

Why Shouldn't I Just Book on My Own?

For safety and convenience, it is always advisable to book through a reputable source like Medical Departures. We always do our homework and check the credentials of the clinic and doctors; we investigate their backgrounds and their qualifications and certifications. We also see that the medical facilities are top-notch and that the staff speaks English so there are no communication problems.

How Long Do Chemical Peels Take and What Is the Estimated Recovery Period?

The time a chemical peel takes depends on the type of peel used. Essentially, a chemical peel actually removes a layer of your skin (chemically burns it). The skin is first cleaned, and then the peel is applied and left on for the required time. For medium peels a topical anesthetic may be used, for deep peels, you may be under sedation. After that, it is washed off or neutralized. If you have very deep peels, you may require some minor bandages for sometimes, otherwise a thick layer of petroleum jelly or any other protective lotion or ointment may be used. A peel can take as little as half an hour to over two hours.

For light peels (also called lunchtime peels) you will be able to move out as normal, you will just need to use sunscreen for a few weeks. For other peels, you may have crusting and irritation, redness on the skin and you may not want to go out. After deep peels, you may require a week of downtime if you have scabs and oozing. It can take up to three weeks for the healing to complete, though deep peels can take up to two months to heal completely.

What Is the Cost of a Chemical Peel in the Philippines?

The cost of a chemical peel in the Philippines can start at AUD 40 and go up to AUD 300. In Australia, you would pay between AUD 150 to AUD 1,500 depending on what kind of peel you get.

🇬🇧 Guy here. It has only been 24 hours since I had Nano LASIK here and to say I am impressed is an understatement. The staff here are ninjas, good English spoken and at every stage I was given honest medical advice, the equipment they have is top of the range, and the Eye Hospital is brand new. I will update my review in the coming weeks but at the moment in less than 24 hours I have 20/20 in one eye and above 20/20 in the second. Amazing and no pain. Special shout out to Win, who is an incredible liaison with very good knowledge or all procedures and is kind and professional, Patthanan for her guidance, professionalism and of course Dr Vivat who has expert knowledge and made me feel safe and at ease, this Dr is awesome. Every single staff member was warm and kind from the reception to cleaners and security. I can’t thank these guys enough. And I have never written a review this long before lol.

The staff were very courteous. Slight language barrier with some staff, but was never an issue. I was able to still communicate my needs without any problems.
