Labial reduction is a reasonably straightforward process. After you have been given light sedation or a local anesthetic, the excess tissue is removed by either a scalpel or a laser. Stitches are used to close wounds – sometimes dissolvable ones are used, and the process typically takes around an hour.
Once the anesthetic has worn off you will feel some discomfort and experience swelling. You’ll be advised to walk around as much as you can as this helps ease the swelling and speeds recovery. It will only be a few days before you can resume your everyday activities, apart from bathing – which is not permitted until after the stitches have dissolved or been taken out (5-7 days).
Vigorous activity is not permitted for 6 weeks (including sex).
