Thinking of whether to have vaginoplasty in Thailand? You’ll save at least 50% compared to the prices at home, and booking through Medical Departures will ensure you’ll find a reliable surgeon who has already been quality-checked by us. Read on to find out more.

Ageing, childbirth, and simply genetics may contribute to loose vaginal muscles. In turn this may lead to a loss of sexual pleasure and self-confidence. However, women don’t have to suffer in silence these days and vaginal rejuvenation procedures, such as vaginoplasty, are becoming more popular, especially in places like Thailand, where the savings are considerable.

Why get vaginoplasty in Thailand?

Thailand’s medical tourism industry is almost legendary. Those that have tried it are generally overjoyed with the results, the prices and above-all the high-standards of customer care.

Since the 1990s when Thailand first opened its doors to international medical tourists, the industry has grown immeasurably. Medical tourism is part of Thailand’s appeal and is good for its economy.

Tourists from First World countries are initially attracted to Thailand for surgery because of the low costs, but they are soon captivated by the facilities and the expertise of the medical staff. Medical training is rigorous in Thailand and cross border training ensures many of Thailand's surgeons are members of medical boards overseas, and international professional organizations, such as the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Thailand openly courts medical tourists, and the point is that if the quality is good, patients will come. It is a symbiotic relationship, and one that is wholeheartedly looked after. If the quality in Thailand was no good, patients simply wouldn’t come. The fact they continue to do so, in their thousands, only underlines how good the standards are.

But Thailand offers so much more than medical tourism – it has been a popular holiday destination for decades too, and its beautiful beaches, incredible culture, mesmerizing cities and much, much more are certainly places to spend a little downtime in either before or after your surgery.

What does the vaginoplasty procedure involve?

The procedure is usually carried out under a general anaesthetic, and it typically takes 1 – 2 hours. Tightening the vagina involves removing the excess vaginal lining and tightening up the surrounding soft tissues and muscles. Any stitches are dissolvable.

What is the recovery time for vaginoplasty?

You will experience mild pain and discomfort after the surgery, as you would expect. However, compared to many other surgical procedures it is not at all bad. You may be discharged from hospital after your surgery, although some surgeons will prefer you stay overnight – it just depends on their preference. In any case, you will need to make sure someone can drive you home or back to your hotel when you do leave.

After a few days, you should feel well enough to take part in your daily routine – and some people actually return to work after 3 days. Baths should be avoided until the stitches have dissolved, but you will be able to shower after 48 hours. You should take it fairly easy over the next 6 weeks, abstaining from vigorous activities, including swimming, heavy lifting and sex.

What is the cost of vaginoplasty in Thailand compared to Australia and New Zealand?

Prices for vaginoplasty in Thailand are around AUD $2,500 (US $2,000, CAD $2,300; £1,200 GBP, €1,700, AUD $9,500) compared to an average of AUD $5,000 in Australia (US $3,800, CAD $4,700; £2,500 GBP, €3,500)
