Last fact-checked: 8 March 2020

Return from your next vacation looking younger by booking Botox in Costa Rica. Used to help ease the appearance of wrinkles, Botox treatment gives you a more youthful appearance while boosting your confidence.

Costa Rica, with its incredible natural beauty and welcoming culture, is the perfect plan to have this treatment performed. Discover where to get it done with Medical Departures.

Also known under numerous brand names, including Dysport and Xeomin, Botox is actually a toxin produced by a bacterium. Injecting this serum helps to soften the appearance of wrinkles by blocking signals from the muscles to the nerves, effectively preventing the muscle from contracting, which makes it possible to relax creases and wrinkles.

Most commonly used to treat lines across the forehead, often known as worry lines, Botox may also be used to treat those lines on the outside of the eyes referred to as crow's feet, as well as frown lines and wrinkles bracketing the mouth that can make you look older.

Patients who are considering Botox treatments should keep in mind that wrinkles resulting from sun damage or those that appear when the face is in a rested state usually cannot be treated with Botox. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological condition, you may not be a suitable candidate for Botox.

Many of these professionals in Costa Rica are board-certified in the United States and are members of prominent professional associations, such as the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

How Long Does it Take to Get Botox and How Long Will Recovery Take?

Since Botox treatments can be completed in a manner of minutes, you will have ample time for exploring everything Costa Rica has to offer, including the pristine beaches and world-renowned national parks. A fine-needled syringe will be used to inject Botox into targeted muscles. This procedure is often performed with the use of a topical anesthetic to limit any discomfort you might feel. The number of injections to be performed will depend on the areas you wish to target. Prior to your procedure, you will meet with your physician/practitioner so that an individualized treatment plan can be made.

Most patients see the full effect of this treatment within as little three days, but keep in mind it could take up to a week to see the full result.

Botox can be a great way to turn back the hands of time and ease the appearance of ageing, but this treatment is not permanent. The effect of your treatment will generally last between four and six months. As your muscle action returns to normal, creases and wrinkles will gradually reappear.

Following your procedure, you may notice the appearance of bruising. Do not be alarmed, as this is only temporary. Although side-effects vary, some patients may also experience headaches following a Botox treatment, although this should subside within 48 hours following the procedure.

What Is the Cost of Botox in Costa Rica Compared to the U.S. and Canada?

My surgery was breast implant. Takes me only 9 days to get rid of all the painfulness. Very surprised with the recovery time. Doctor say one month later will see a better result, but now the result alrdy very good. Good service, good surgery quality, really nothing can be complain about

I had an issue with the skin around my outer eyelids drooping, which reduced my field of vision. Being 81 years old, I had to carefully consider and choose the right option. A relative who had surgery with Dr. Nut recommended him to me, and I’m so glad I made the right decision. His touch was gentle, and his skills are exceptional!

I underwent double eyelid surgery and correction of my droopy eyelids with Dr. Nut, who provided advice on both the pros and cons before the surgery and analyzed my issues to achieve a naturally beautiful result. Just fixing my eyes made me look 10 years younger! I feel much more confident now.

This is my second time getting Botox injections. I needed to reduce my jaw muscles because of excessive chewing, which was causing tooth wear. The Botox used is high-quality and lasts a long time. The doctor gave great advice, especially since my jaw muscles were uneven on both sides. Before the injections, they applied a numbing cream and used a cold compress. Botox really helped reduce my jaw size—I can tell because when I clench my teeth, my jaw muscles no longer bulge. After the injections, I do feel a slight soreness in my jaw when chewing, but it's minimal.

The doctor is very observant and attentive to his patients. Initially, I took my partner for a cosmetic surgery consultation, but the doctor noticed a lump on my face and recommended I get it surgically removed. Fortunately, the doctor detected it in time and performed surgery, as it turned out to be basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer. Thankfully, it hadn't spread, and after the treatment, I recovered completely. Now, I'm living a healthy and normal life.

In the past, people used to say I looked stern and a bit arrogant. But after undergoing ptosis surgery with Dr. Sahathat, everyone has been commenting on how much better and sweeter my eyes look. The doctor took great care of me, providing thorough guidance throughout the process. After the surgery, there were no bruises or pain, just a little swelling and tightness. I didn’t even need any recovery time. I had the procedure done one day and was back to work the next. The incision was smooth, and the work was excellent!

At that time, my chin was too short, which made my face look stubby. So, I consulted with Dr. Nut, who recommended a silicone chin implant, size M. Now, my face is well-balanced, and my chin looks beautifully natural, not overdone. A perfect 10/10!

I used to be really afraid of getting fillers because I’m scared of pain, but when I met Dr. Nut, the procedure didn’t hurt at all, and I looked more beautiful afterward. I was so impressed with his work that I consulted him about getting my eyes done as well. After the procedure, everyone kept asking what I had done because I looked both more beautiful and younger. I’m absolutely thrilled with the results!

This year, I planned to host a Kathin ceremony, and I wanted to do something to make myself look less tired. When I consulted with Dr. Nut, he explained everything clearly and honestly, so I decided to go for a full facelift, neck lift, and eye surgery. I’m so glad I did—it was absolutely worth it!

I had a condition where my upper eyelids drooped down, covering part of my eyes, which made it difficult for me to fully open them and affected my vision. It also made my face look sad and as if I was sleepy all the time. After undergoing surgery to correct my ptosis with Dr. Sahathat, I can now open my eyes more easily, and my vision has improved. I no longer have to strain my eyes like before. People have been commenting on how much brighter and more refreshed my face looks, with natural-looking, sweet eyes. The wound healed quickly, with no swelling or scars. Dr. Sahathat took excellent care of me.
