Often the lines are blurry. To summarize:

Once you are discharged from the hospital, ensure you have at least a pillow to sit down on in the car on the way back to your hotel. You may have to use a pillow for a good few weeks until you have healed sufficiently, and all the tenderness and bruising has subsided.

Most people return to their everyday activities after one or two weeks but you will have to take things gently, with no vigorous activities advised for six weeks. To heal fully inside and out may take up to six months.
