Anybody who’s experienced difficulty conceiving will know how frustrating it can be. For some couples without the financial resources for innovative treatments like IVF, it can be heartbreaking.
Being unable to conceive can be caused by several issues, sometimes related to male infertility, sometimes to female infertility or sometimes to causes that can’t be identified.
With a success rate of around 25%, in vitro fertilization is a process in which an egg extracted and fertilized by sperm outside of the body, usually in a test tube.
The chance to recharge batteries and relax on vacation is one of the reasons couples choose Cancun. As a popular tourist destination, it has all the right ingredients for a great vacation spot with all the services and amenities both medical and traditional tourists want.
Sometimes, just getting away from it all can actually help with the process of in vitro fertilization. No-one really knows why, but it may be something to do with you being more relaxed that you finally get pregnant. Cancun offers an idyllic setting to help you feel calm—a beautiful coastline, pristine, sandy white beaches surrounded by sparkling azure-color waters and plenty of other vacation activities to enjoy.
Many couples from across the world are discovering the benefits of traveling to Cancun for their fertility treatments. Obviously a big plus point is the cost, which is at least 50% lower than at home; as many couples often have to have several rounds of IVF before they conceive, this is a major benefit.

You will usually have to stay in Cancun for around 10 days to complete all of the necessary steps in the IVF treatment cycle. This may differ depending on each couple, but they generally follow these five steps:
Egg production: Egg production is stimulated with medication, and blood tests and scans are regularly undertaken to monitor this.
Egg collection: Once the eggs have developed, a small surgical procedure is carried out to extract them.
Sperm collection: A sperm sample is collected from the male
Sperm and eggs are combined: Sperm and eggs are combined in a laboratory process called insemination. The combined sperm and eggs are kept in the ideal conditions for fertilization to take place and are checked closely for signs of cell division. Once the cells have divided, fertilization has taken place.
Transplantation of fertilized eggs: After fertilization, the fertilized eggs (now the embryos) are placed into the uterus.
In vitro fertilization in Cancun costs at least 50% lower than in the United States.
