Looking at an affordable, permanent way to get rid of unwanted hair? Find out about laser hair removal in Tijuana with Medical Departures. If you live in the southwestern states, a quick trip over the US-Mexico border for your treatment sessions could save you a substantial amount.
Tijuana has always attracted Americans for discount shopping, but it is currently having somewhat of a renaissance. Sure – the discount shopping is still an attraction, but a great culinary scene and vibrant nightlife add to TJ’s enduring appeal.
If you want a permanent solution to unwanted hair then laser hair removal may be an option. It is most effective if you have pale skin and dark hair. However, if this isn’t you there are other alternatives that have emerged, which have been found to get good results.
Laser hair removal is not a one-off treatment, and you will have to put in the commitment to attend for several sessions. Depending on the amount of hair you have, and the area you want to target, this could be between three and eight sessions.
The price is one of the major reasons for going to Tijuana for laser hair removal – most people save up to two-thirds on US prices, which adds up to a fairly substantial sum over the number of sessions.
Mexico is fast becoming a medical, health and beauty tourism destination – especially for North Americans, although thanks to its status as a tourist destination, it isn’t unusual for international patients to seek treatment here too.
No doubt, part of Tijuana’s popularity is its proximity to the US border – making it a convenient spot to travel to, particularly for beauty treatments.
The top facilities here are contemporary and modern, equipped with the latest technologies, world-renowned brands and hygiene and safety procedures consistent with international standards. Practitioners are well trained and qualified and have a commitment to customer service that is often far beyond what people are used to.
While there are plenty of great facilities to choose from, it may be difficult to know where to start. Using Medical Departures enables you to find your ideal clinic and location on one website. We offer high definition clinic photos, real patient reviews and video tours. We also list doctor qualifications and professional memberships, and as part of our quality-checking process, we carry out onsite-visits and check legal/criminal records.

The hairs in the area to be treated will be cut short – the shorter distance the laser beam has to travel down the shaft the better as it will retain its energy and be more effective at killing the root. You will be given protection for your eyes and a test patch will be done to ensure there are no adverse reactions, and that the treatment is at the right setting. Only when your practitioner is satisfied will the treatment will continue – and it may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour (depending on the size of area being treated).
Laser hair removal isn’t painful, but there is a little discomfort. After treatment, the treated areas may be red and feel hot so you may want to apply a soothing cream or an ice pack to the area.
Any redness and the hot sensation should disappear after a few hours, and you will notice immediately that your skin is smoother and hair-free.
As hair follicles grow in different cycles, you may feel the hair comes back quickly after the first treatment. This is why a number of sessions are recommended as different hairs will be appearing at different times. If you persist with the laser hair treatment, hair growth will become thinner until, eventually, it ceases to come back at all.
Prices vary depending on the size of the area being treated; in Tijuana, you could expect to pay just $75 per session compared to around $230 in the United States.
