Find out about affordable liposuction in Chiang Mai with Medical Departures.
This mini-guide runs you through what the procedure exactly entails, reasons to have it carried out in Chiang Mai, as well as some of our recommended partner clinics that offer this life-changing procedure for often thousands less than back home.
Chiang Mai is the cultural capital of Thailand’s beautiful northern region and hosts thousands of medical tourists every year. It’s sheer beauty, fascinating culture, exquisite cuisine and altogether more laid-back atmosphere (especially compared to the pace of Bangkok) make this one of Southeast Asia's must-visit cities.
This brings us to liposuction, which is just one of many cosmetic procedures available in the city for a much more affordable price than back home. The procedure itself is not a weight loss alternative, but rather a method to isolate fatty areas and remove fat tissue through a suction technique.
It is evident, proved over and over again, that diet and exercise are the key components for shifting weight. However, sometimes, no matter how much effort you put in when it comes to gym-time, stubborn areas of fat (that have accumulated over a long period of time) just won't budge. In these cases, many people decide to take a more drastic approach to remove fat and undergo liposuction, which gets rids of those flabby regions instantaneously.
If you have done your research and have decided that liposuction is worth a try, here is why you should consider our physicians in Chiang Mai...
While there are various ways to lose fat and get the figure you have always wanted, not all programs out there work completely; with most of us naturally impatient to shed the fat, liposuction often seems (and is) the best option.
However, a common problem that people face is that liposuction is expensive. For patients traveling from New Zealand, Australia, China, East Europe and the US, Chiang Mai is an ideal destination for the procedure because the surgery is offered inexpensively. What's more, Thailand's quality when it comes to medical and cosmetic treatments is renowned -- indeed, it has more JCI accredited facilities than any of its Southeast Asian neighbors.
Thailand has well and truly emerged to be a global leader in medical tourism, and thousands of people from as far away as Australia, New Zealand and Western Europe are traveling every season to this amazing country in search of affordable world-class medical travel treatments for both elective and semi-elective surgeries.
Chiang Mai has also grown into a hub of medical procedures; even those who come merely as ordinary tourists find the services here irresistible and often end up combining their original purpose, i.e. a vacation, with some sort of medical, cosmetic or dental treatment.
At Medical Departures, we list only the doctors and clinics we have full confidence in having confirmed their integrity. We conduct quality checks-ups and look at qualifications, credibility and the quality of service offered by each and every one of our partners across the world.
Liposuction surgery can target a number of areas but your surgeon will discuss with you your goals and aims before surgery as it is tailor-made to your specific circumstances. There are a number of techniques for breaking up the fat cells during the liposuction procedure: for example, by ultrasound or by injecting a solution straight into the fat to break it down. Once the fat is liquefied, a small cut is made and a suction tube attached to a specialised vacuum machine is then inserted. If the area to be treated is large, then various cuts may be necessary to achieve the desired results.
The treated area will then be bandaged and stitched; you’ll be advised to wear elastic compression clothing to reduce swelling and to speed up recovery. To make a full recovery, where one can resume tasks, two weeks is the average time. Nevertheless, just like most plastic surgeries, it might take around six months for a lipo patient to see noticeable results due to the fact that the treated area needs time to heal, with any swelling controlled by the compressive garment.
The amount of money you pay for liposuction will vary depending on the number of areas where fat is to be removed. The fee will go up when multiple areas are treated by liposuction.
However, the price remains much lower in Chiang Mai compared to Australia or New Zealand, with hundreds, if not thousands to be saved -- even when factoring in travel costs.
