Women with a desire to restore their pre-pregnancy bodies can benefit from a mommy makeover in Costa Rica.
With Medical Departures, you can find an experienced team of surgeons to carry out this combination of procedures, enjoy a break in the sun and still head home having saved thousands.
Sometimes, diet and exercise alone aren’t enough to help you get back your pre-pregnancy body. A mommy makeover is designed to help women tone and contour those stubborn bulges that often result from pregnancy and childbirth while also increasing their self-confidence.
With each pregnancy, it’s normal to gain an extra 25 pounds—and not all of that weight is lost following the birth of the baby. Excess weight can settle in areas such as the hips, breasts, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and lower back. Even when a woman shifts that baby weight, excess fat often remains. Likewise, you can’t exactly target stretch marks and sagging breasts in the gym, no matter how many crunches you do...
Mommy makeover procedures typically involve multiple procedures, including but not limited to:
Liposuction (targeted fat removal)
Butt implants (or a Brazilian butt lift)
The procedures included in a mommy makeover will typically vary based on the individual needs of the patient. Most women wait to have a mommy makeover performed until they are finished with childbearing, as the results of a mommy makeover may be lost with a subsequent pregnancy.
Having a mommy makeover in Costa Rica can be a great way to gain back your self-confidence while also enjoying a well-earned vacation or even a second honeymoon.
Costa Rica is now one of the most popular tourist destinations for Americans and Canadians, offering everything from incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites and pristine beaches to rainforest tours. Bordered by the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, Costa Rica has a wealth of attractions to enjoy. Costa Rica is also only a short flight from the United States, making it a convenient option.
Most importantly, however, this beautiful country has an exceptional healthcare system with prices that are much lower than in the United States.
Most facilities in Costa Rica are reputable, but it's still important to conduct research before choosing a clinic in which to have your mommy makeover performed. This is where Medical Departures can help. Our research process includes verifying professional memberships, such as those with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. We also confirm qualifications and perform legal and criminal background checks. Atmosphere and after-care are important, so we visit the facilities in person and publish real patient reviews. You will only find facilities on our list that have passed our exhaustive verification process.

When planning to have a mommy makeover, you should be aware that the amount of time required will depend on the number and type of procedures to be performed. Depending on your needs, it may be necessary for procedures to be performed at different times to prevent the risk of complications.
Some women may request liposuction to address stubborn bulges that remain following pregnancy and childbirth; others may opt for a breast lift or even implants to improve the look of their breasts after pregnancy and nursing. In some cases, a woman may require a breast reduction. Another common request as part of a mommy makeover is abdominoplasty (a tummy tuck), which tightens the abdominal muscles while removing excess skin and fat.
Recovery time from a mommy makeover procedure is also highly individual based on the procedures to be performed. You may be required to stay in the clinic for several days following your procedure. In many cases, drain tubes will be inserted for the first day or two following a mommy makeover to assist in reducing swelling. Pain medication may be provided to help ease any discomfort you experience.
Your doctor may also advise you to wear a compression garment or support bra for several days or weeks after your procedure to ensure optimal results. You may also be requested to limit your physical activities following your procedure for several days. The number and type of procedures performed will dictate how long you will need to wait before returning to work.
The average cost of a mommy makeover in Costa Rica is about $7,000 (GBP £4,917, AUD $9,410, EUR €5,359) compared to $13,000 (GBP £9,013, AUD $18,181, EUR €11,655) in the United States.
