Breast Revision in Thailand

The Ultimate Guide to Breast Revision in Thailand

Consider breast revision in Thailand – the ultimate destination for surgery and recuperation. Breast revision is the term used for replacing or removing breast implants, either because you no longer want them, you want to change size, or there are complications with your implants.

Why have breast revision in Thailand?

Contemplating surgery overseas is an important decision, and one not to be taken lightly. However, choose the right surgeon and the benefits far outweigh any disadvantages.

Thailand has been a leader for medical tourists for decades. Its facilities are top-notch – after all, it would not have become the world’s favorite medical tourist destination if they weren’t. The income from medical tourists is re-invested into newer and better facilities as well as state-of-the-art technology, so that patients are always assured of receiving the most up-to-date care and techniques currently available.

Surgeons in Thailand are equally as competent as any in the West. Training and qualifications are just as rigorous, and with cross-border training the norm these days, it is not unusual for physicians to have trained in the US, Australia or Europe anyway. They are also likely to have memberships of international professional organizations, such as the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Prices are at least 50% lower here than at home, giving you plenty of savings to spend on a well-deserved holiday.

As a holiday destination, Thailand’s reputation is well-established. Offering a host of appealing locations, and while some are more heavily influenced by Western tastes than others, the country still retains its own cultural identity. From the tranquility of Chiang Mai, via the buzz of Bangkok to the beaches of Phuket, Thailand is what you make of it.

What is the procedure for breast revision in Thailand?

The procedure varies, and is determined on the reason breast revision is being sought. A straight-forward swap of the same size implant will not require any additional surgery, and is just a case of making an incision on the existing scar, removing the old implant, inserting the new and stitching the wound up.

Larger implants, capsular contraction or implant rippling will require additional surgery, such as reconstructing the pocket where the implant sits, or manipulating scar tissue inside the breast, which will obviously take longer. The time usually required for breast revision surgery is 1 to 3 hours.

What is the Recovery Time for a breast revision?

After surgery the chest area will be tender and painful for the first couple of days, especially if your breast tissue is stretched to receive a larger implant, or you have had them moved. You will be given pain medication to relieve this.

Many people return to work after a week, being careful not to bend, stretch and cause unnecessary strain on the area. By the end of 2 weeks you should be able to do your normal activities, but vigorous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for 6 weeks..
