Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Ptosis Repair

This is a surgical procedure aimed to restore normal eyelid position and function by correcting drooping or sagging of the upper eyelid, known as ptosis. During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision along the natural crease of the upper eyelid or inside the eyelid, depending on the severity of the ptosis and the desired outcome. 

The levator muscle will then be tightened and/or repositioned, which is responsible for lifting the eyelid.

In cases where the levator muscle is weak or damaged, additional techniques such as attaching the eyelid to the frontalis muscle or using synthetic materials may be an option to provide support and elevation to the eyelid. 

Full results are generally evident once the swelling has subsided, usually within a few weeks, revealing a more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing eyelid appearance. 

Canthoplasty Surgery

This surgical procedure helps correct or enhance the shape and position of the outer corners of the eyes, known as the canthi. Incisions are made at the outer corners of the eyes to adjust the attachments of the eyelids to the underlying bone or tissue.

In lateral canthoplasty, the outer corner of the eyelid is tightened or repositioned to create a more lifted and almond-shaped eye appearance. This can involve shortening the lower eyelid, tightening the lateral canthal tendon, or adding support with grafts or sutures.

Canthoplasty can also be combined with other procedures such as blepharoplasty or ptosis repair to achieve comprehensive rejuvenation of the eye area. 

Recovery from canthoplasty typically involves swelling, bruising, and temporary discomfort, which usually subsides within a few weeks. Full results are generally evident once the swelling has resolved, revealing a more defined and aesthetically pleasing eye shape.

Entropion and Ectropion

These are conditions where the eyelid turns inward or outward, respectively, causing discomfort, irritation, and potential vision problems. Repair procedures for these conditions aim to correct the position of the eyelid to alleviate symptoms and restore proper eyelid function.

Entropion repair involves surgically repositioning the eyelid so that it no longer turns inward. This may include tightening or reattaching the eyelid muscles and tendons to the underlying structures of the eye to prevent it from rolling inward.

Ectropion repair, on the other hand, entails adjusting the eyelid to prevent it from drooping or turning outward. This may involve tightening or shortening the eyelid tissue and muscles to bring the eyelid back into its normal position against the eye.

LASIK

Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, is a popular refractive surgery aimed at correcting vision problems such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. During the procedure, the ophthalmologist creates a thin flap in the cornea using a femtosecond laser or microkeratome. The flap is then lifted, and an excimer laser is used to reshape the underlying corneal tissue to correct the refractive error.
