There are a number of steps involved in the IVF procedure, with patients typically needing to spend at least 7-10 days in Bangkok.

The steps include:

1. Egg Production: Egg production is stimulated with medication. Blood tests and ultrasound are used to examine the ovaries in order to see if production has occurred.

2. Egg Collection: If eggs have been produced, a minor surgical procedure using a hollow needle to collect the eggs is performed.

3. Sperm collection: A sperm sample is collected from the male

4. Fertilization: The sperm and eggs are combined in laboratory conditions to encourage fertilization. This is monitored closely for signs of cell division, which would confirm that fertilization has occurred.

5. Transfer of embryos: Three to five days after fertilization, the viable eggs are transferred to the uterus via a painless procedure. If successful, implantation is performed between six and 10 days after egg retrieval.

There are modified versions of IVF, including ZIFT (Zygote Intra-Fallopian Transfer) and GIFT (Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer).
