The Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana offers a range of treatment options to local and international patients, including alternative cancer-focused care and bariatric surgery/weight loss procedures – both permanent and temporary.
The hospital was founded in 1963 and has treated patients from around the world. Located just over the US-Mexico border and a short drive away from San Diego International airport it is a convenient option for patients from abroad to visit.
The hospital offers a full range of facilities with around 60 patient rooms, and has been certified by the American Hospital Association since 1991. It was founded by Dr Ernesto Contreras in the 1960’s and has focused on providing a range of therapies and services to cancer services.
Oasis of Hope now also offers a range of other services, including general surgery, orthopaedic and bariatric surgery services.
Its bariatric surgery services are proving to be particularly popular, especially with North American patients, where savings of 50% or more are a huge incentive. The hospital’s bariatric services are provided by a skilled and knowledgeable team and include gastric bands, gastric bypass, intragastric balloons and sleeve gastrectomies.

June 2017had gastric Sleeve on June 29 2017. From the first time I contacted the hospital the staff were very kind. Answered all my questions. Made me feel safe and comfortable before I even arrived. They had all transportation arranged both ways. The hospital was quite and clean almost like a resort. Treated me and my companion amazingly. My surgery went perfect. I had a great team and would recommend them to any one. All staff were very knowledgeable. Nurses, house keeping, kitchen staff all did a wonderful job to make sure all our needs were met. The hospital administer took the time to visit with me. I had a concierge who made everything feel like it was about me being treated good. No matter what I asked her she took the time to meet with me. I had mentioned I wanted to visit a few places while I was staying in the hospital. She made arrangements for a private tour and made sure I saw everything I wanted to. At one point I was a little concerned about my mom who was with me. I mentioned it to Patty my concierge, she arranged to have a doctor meet with my mom. And all of my moms needs were met. The day of our arrival my mom had fell. We just wrapped her hand with a wrap. She was walking down the hall with me and a doctor stopped her to look at it and made sure she was ok. Wow! My program was very clear and it was made clear that I had direct direction on what to do before and after surgery. So grateful for this life changing experience and for all those involved.

June 2017My sister went there 2 years for her breast cancer. She passed away a few months ago. This hospital is a SCAM they just want your money and make you believe you will be cured. They made my sister take 60 pills a day and said they didnt do chemo but they did. My sister cancer spread and they would tell her her tumor was going down and getting better and U.S. doctors looked at her crazy and said her cancer spread and she had more than one tumor. This hospital lies to you just to keep you going and getting your money. All the pills they made my sister take made her get fluids in her lungs in her stomach. Instead of treating her cancer it didnt and just let it spread. DONT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE IF YOU WANT THEM TO LIVE!! There is no stories of people who survived. While my sister was there a lot of patients were dying and not surviving. They are money thieves and dont care about patients. They use the word of God and said doctor is a pastor all a way of using psychology and scamming patients. STAY AWAY!!!
