Butt Lift in Cancun

The Ultimate Guide to Butt Lift in Cancun

Last fact-checked: 10 October 2020

In Cancun, you can save at least 50% on a butt lift compared to prices at home when booking through Medical Departures.

This also presents a great chance to relax in the stunning surroundings of Mexico’s Riviera Maya as you recuperate before heading back.

Who Is a Butt Lift for?

Butt lifts are sought by adults who:

  • Have always wanted a more shapely, rounder behind
  • Want to get rid of loose, sagging skin as a result of the natural aging process
  • Have lost a lot of weight and have excess loose skin as a result
It is also important to be in generally good health and have realistic expectations in terms of what the procedure can achieve; for instance, a butt lift does not necessarily provide added volume (for this, buttock implants may be advised).

Why Should I Have a Butt Lift in Cancun?

Cancun in Mexico offers an attractive alternative to the high prices that many people in the US and Canada face for cosmetic surgery. North Americans are frequent visitors to Cancun, but so too are visitors from across the world, including Europe.

As Cancun is popular for vacationers, it is becoming increasingly popular as a medical tourist destination. It has quality private hospitals and clinics, equipped with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and staffed by well trained and qualified doctors and support teams.

Together with luxurious beachfront hotels, a range of fun activities (only suitable before going in for surgery) and plenty of spas and retreats, it makes for a great place in which to recuperate.

Significant investment has spurred the growth of medical tourism as an industry here and there are Joint Commission International-accredited facilities that are testament to the high-quality on offer here.

How Long Does a Buttock Lift Take and What’s Involved?

A butt lift is usually performed as an out-patient procedure, which means you don’t need to stay overnight in hospital. There isn’t an overall approach as each patient has their own needs and your surgeon will tailor the procedure to suit your body shape and goals.

Incisions are made, usually at the waist or slightly below, and excess skin is pulled up and removed. Fat may also be removed from the soft tissues (via liposuction) and the skin tightened and stitched.

Sterile dressings are applied and a compression garment applied to hold the skin in place, aiding the natural healing process and reducing swelling.

The procedure normally takes around two hours, on average.

What Does the Recovery Involve?

Following surgery:

  • You will feel sore and stiff, and you may find it more comfortable to lie flat on your stomach rather than sit.
  • Swelling and bruising will be evident.
  • Full recovery takes up to six months, but you should find that the swelling subsides within a few weeks, which is when most people return to work.
  • Strenuous exercise and vigorous activities should be avoided for around six weeks.
