About Dr. Hector Joaquin Perez Corzo

Established in 2006 by Dr Hector Joaquin Perez Corzo; a renowned and highly-respected bariatric surgeon, we welcome clients from all over the world to the Cancun Bariatric Center. Our mission is to help you win the battle against obesity and our fully-trained, professional team have dedicated their entire careers to combat this complex and deadly disease.

A graduate of the University of Miami, Dr Perez has been performing laparoscopic bariatric surgery since 1996 and is constantly updating his skills and techniques to keep him at the top of his trade.

Aware that every individual is unique, facing their own challenges we offer a variety of weight-loss solutions, tailored to your evaluated personal needs and requirements.

The most common procedure is the lap band (adjustable gastric band) which shrinks the capacity of the stomach, limiting the amount which can be consumed. It’s a suitable option for people with a BMI between 30-40 and consists of a band placed around the upper portion of the stomach. Reversible laparoscopic surgery is quicker to perform with less recovery time

Gastric plication is so new, it’s still undergoing trials in America and Mexico. It involves the stomach being folded inward and sutured in place which again limits the food intake. Vertical sleeve gastrectomy or the gastric sleeve is an irreversible procedure which removes part of your stomach.
One of the most invasive bariatric surgeries is roux-en-Y-gastric bypass; when small part of the stomach is used to create a pouch which, in turn is connected to the small intestine. Around 70% of the stomach is removed and a section of the small intestine is rerouted in a duodenal switch. Because of the greater curvature of the stomach, the production of the hunger hormone is greatly reduced. For patients who fail to lose weight following their procedure or suffer from complications, we also offer revision surgery.
Dr Hector Joaquin Perez Corzo and his team at Cancun Bariatric Center speak fluent English and welcome you to beautiful Cancun, Mexico.
