How Does Bellafill Work?

Similar to other types of fillers, like Botox®, Bellafill is a gel that is injected directly into the skin. It contains bovine collagen (from cows) and hydrating microspheres; this remains in place to create a matrix to support your own skin’s collagen production. Collagen is the essential protein needed for building healthy skin; as we age, our body’s ability to create collagen slows down, which leads to loss of volume, sagging and wrinkles.

This dermal filler is considered to be a permanent solution, as unlike collagen that eventually breaks down, the microspheres in Bellafill do not.

It can be used for wrinkles caused by volume loss and sagging, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines), instantly smoothing your skin over to give you a younger look.

Why Have Bellafill in Mexico?

In Mexico, you will find the same branded materials and treatments that you would find at home, but typically for around half the price. Medical tourists are unlikely to find it cost-effective to come to Mexico specifically for Bellafill, however, it may be something to consider if you are already visiting on business or holiday.

For North Americans, particularly those located in the southern United States, it may well be worth considering if you live near the US-Mexico border.

Mexico’s medical facilities have increased considerably over the last decade or so, partly in response to the influx of medical tourists who now view Mexico as a viable, safe and affordable option for all sorts of medical-related services, from pharmaceuticals to dental care to cosmetic surgery.

With one of the top healthcare systems in the world, the best clinics and hospitals here are experienced in treating international patients, delivering exceptionally high-quality results and a level of customer care that many patients actually find to be better than back home.

Why Book with Medical Departures?

Rather than just jump in, we always recommend you research any medical or cosmetic procedure before booking your treatment—even if you were having it done at home. There are such a vast array of cosmeceutical services and products on offer; it really is worth taking the time to find out what each does, the potential risks and whether it is suitable for your requirements.

Medical Departures makes this process a whole lot easier by doing much of this work for you. We have pre-checked all doctors and clinics listed on our site, allowing you to book with confidence that you will be seen by a reputable clinic. Our verification measures include checking qualifications and professional memberships; gathering real patient testimonials and paying visits to clinics. Only if we are satisfied with a facility do we list it on our site.

How Long Does the Procedure Take? Is There Anything Else I Need to Know?

You should have an allergy test before the procedure because of the bovine collagen contained in Radiesse. Only if this is negative should you consider the treatment. This is something that can be done either at home or in Mexico for a nominal fee.

The Bellafill injections only take a few moments, but the process could be as long as an hour, subject to how many areas are treated. Temporary side-effects, including swelling, itching, bruising and redness will subside over the days following treatment.

The results should be immediately noticeable and are long-lasting—up to 12 months. However, if further top-ups are needed, they should be carried out three to six weeks apart.

How Much Can I Save on Bellafill in Mexico Compared to the United States and Canada?

Priced by the syringe, Bellafil costs around $750 in the United States (CAD $900, GBP £500, €650, AUD $100) compared to around $500 in Mexico (CAD $600, GBP £300, €450, AUD $650). [Please note: these are average price comparisons calculated at the time of writing.]
