Facelift in Mexicali

The Ultimate Guide to Facelift in Mexicali

Last fact-checked: 5 October 2020

For men and women who want to improve visible signs of facial aging, a facelift in Mexicali can deliver a more youthful and refreshed look with attractive cost savings compared to the US and Canada.

How Can a Facelift Help?

Also known as rhytidectomy, a facelift can help to:

  • Improve loss of skin tone
  • Diminish the appearance of jowls
  • Get rid of deep creases beside the corners of the mouth
  • Tighten skin below the eyes
  • Firm up sagging along the middle of the face

A loss of skin tone can be attributed to a variety of factors, including gravity, heredity, stress, and environmental conditions. Regardless of why your face may no longer look as youthful as it once did, a facelift can help to restore the contours of your face and eliminate lines and wrinkles.

Note: A facelift is considered a type of restorative procedure. As such, it will not alter your fundamental appearance. It is important to understand that while a facelift can give you a more youthful appearance, it cannot stop the aging process and eventually those tell-tale signs will start to reappear.

What Does the Procedure Involve and How Long Does it Take?

Facelift procedures may focus on various areas of the face, including the jowls, jawline, cheeks, forehead, and the midface. Depending on your desired goals, a facelift may also involve:

The incisions made in a facelift will often vary based on the areas to be targeted and the desired outcome. Once the incisions have been made, the surgeon will start to separate the skin of the neck and face from the tissues and muscles deep within the skin, making it possible to redrape the neck and facial skin. The deeper layers of the face will then be lifted.

Next, your surgeon will raise the skin from the cheeks, temples, and neck, as well as lift and reposition the connective tissue. Any excess skin and fat will also be removed. Depending on the goals of the procedure, facial implants may also be used. This is usually done to increase chin or cheek volume.

At the end of the procedure, the physician will redrape the skin and close the incisions using small metal clips and/or stitches. Drainage tubes may also be inserted.

Depending on your precise goals, the procedure may take up to four hours.

What Happens After a Facelift? What Does the Recovery Involve?

  • In most cases, a supportive dressing will be applied which shall be worn as per your surgeon's advice.
  • To minimize swelling, you may be directed to rest in a reclining position following your procedure.
  • It is important to keep your head elevated and avoid bending over or forward.
  • Patients should expect to experience some pain and discomfort. Oral painkillers may be used to control pain.
  • Swelling and bruising should also be anticipated, which will gradually subside over the course of the next two weeks.
  • Cold compresses may be used to relieve bruising and swelling.
  • Bandages and dressings can typically be removed within one to two days following the procedure. Drainage tubes can usually be removed around the same time.
  • Your surgeon will remove your stitches within five to 10 days.
