Facial liposuction is a relatively uncomplicated procedure and generally quick to perform and with far less downtime than a facelift. Patients often only have one or two problem areas on their face they are unhappy with, such as a double chin, jowls or the so-called "turkey/wattle neck"; facial liposuction can fix these problems without the need for further surgery.
Although it is very often performed on its own, facial liposuction can also be carried out in combination with other treatments as part of a facial rejuvenation procedure.
Tijuana is one of Mexico’s most popular destinations for cosmetic surgery. This is partly due to its proximity to the US-Mexico border, making it a convenient location for many Americans to reach by auto. However, patients visit Tijuana from all corners of the world too, lured by low prices and its excellent reputation in plastic, cosmetic and esthetic surgery.
Affordability is one of the primary reasons patients look to Tijuana for their facial liposuction procedures, but also because modern techniques mean good results with minimal downtime–equally great for patients who want to get back home to their everyday lives, as well as those who would like to spend some time on holiday sightseeing.
You will discover plenty to see and do in Tijuana, along with all the beautiful scenery and other towns along the Baja California peninsula, including coastal resorts just an hour drive from the border.
We always recommend doing your own due diligence–learning as much as you can about your procedure, and checking out prospective surgeons and clinics to make sure you are comfortable with what they are providing.
Medical Departures partners only with providers we are happy with. Our background checks include:
A local anesthetic will be administered into the areas to be treated and small incisions made. A narrow tube (cannula) is inserted through the incision through which a solution is injected that liquefies the fat. This is then sucked out via the same tube. There are other techniques which may be used to break up the fat, such as ultrasound, but it will still need to be removed by the tube.
After the procedure is finished the small wounds will be stitched closed. The procedure usually takes around an hour.

Most people typically start to feel considerably better after a few days' rest at their hotel in Tijuana. Painkillers will be prescribed for the first few days, and you may experience a little tightness and discomfort, but with a little help from scarves or high necks, you should be able to disguise a lot of the bruising and swelling, which takes up to two weeks to disappear.
In the United States, it costs around $2,000, whereas in Tijuana you can expect to pay around 50% less for facial liposuction, with some able to save even more.
[Please note: these prices are approximate estimates based on international data, calculated at the time of writing.]
